If a person or company is offering you financial services or products, always check that they hold an authorization for that purpose.
Check, using the search function, whether:
- The person or company contacting you holds an authorization to make you this offer.
- A warning has been published by the FSMA or by other supervisory authorities against the person or company contacting you.
The results are displayed:
🟥 In a red banner:
- A warning has been published regarding this entity or website.
- We recommend that you be particularly vigilant and read the warning carefully. Do not accept any offer from an entity that is the subject of a warning.
🟩 With a green button:
- The company or name has been found in the FSMA’s official registers.
- This means that there is an enrolment, authorization or registration in the FSMA’s databases.
The fact that the FSMA has not published a warning about a company does not mean that that company holds the necessary authorization or registration to operate in Belgium. The list cannot be considered exhaustive, and investors are always advised to check if a company that is offering them a financial service holds the requisite authorization or registration. Be wary of fraudsters that pass themselves off as different, regulated banks or other financial institutions ('cloned firms') even though they in fact have no connection with the latter.
